7-Month-Old Boy Reportedly Kidnapped After Mother Attacked Outside California Store

A seven-month-old boy was allegedly kidnapped after his mother was attacked outside a store in Yucaipa, California.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD), deputies were called around 7:47 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, after reports that Emmanuel Haro went missing from the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard. His mother, Rebecca Haro, told police she was assaulted before her baby was taken.

Investigators said K9 units were deployed but Emmanuel has not yet been located, and no suspect information is available. SBCSD confirmed the investigation is ongoing.

Rebecca Haro said she had stopped at Big 5 Sporting Goods to pick up a mouthguard for her son. She placed Emmanuel in the car to change his diaper when she was attacked. “I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, ‘Hola,’ and I don’t remember anything since,” she said, showing a black eye. She added that someone “snatched” her son from the vehicle.

An Amber Alert was not issued because authorities had no descriptions of the suspect or vehicle. Emmanuel’s father, Jake Haro, said the family “doesn’t have enemies” and cannot think of anyone who would want to harm their child.
